Pretty sure I will end up on the no fly list

So this came in the mail yesterday! I am pretty sure ordering 10 pounds of sodium hydroxide, aka lye, put me on some sort of list. Don't worry, this is not for food, it is for soap making. It was cheaper to order in bulk on Amazon. I will be teaching a friend to make soap in a few week and needed to stock up.

Question: any requests for the type of soap I make next?

On a completely unrelated note, here is my breakfast from this morning. It is a mixture of things to juice and blend. I juice the hard stuff and blend then things like bananas and spinach. I have started adding pea protein. It adds 24g of protein to my morning. I am eating a lot of raw veggies lately and less beans and cooked things so I thought I might add some protein to my morning shake.

What cures a bad mood? COOKING!

So I was in a really bad mood tonight because I found out that I have more hours of my masters than I thought I did so I will have to take classes this summer and fall.  I was really hoping to finish this summer.  School and classes are really going crazy right now so I am felling pulled in many directions at the moment.  I know, I know, I am always all over the place but I like to multi task my own things, not homework and work!

Anyways, on to the food.  I decided to make a vegan burger tonight and I found an amazing broccoli and chickpea recipe on tumblr.  Quick note, tumblr is an amazing place to find recipes!

BOOM!  Yummy!

Paired with a Crooked line Baltic Porter and life is pretty amazing now!

Yes, yes, and no

Today I had two successes and one fail!

For dinner I made a falafel, tomato, and kale salad. It was freaking amazing! I am for sure adding falafel to my list of staple foods!

After my amazing and light dinner I decided to try out an amazing desert I found on tumblr. Ok, stay with me..... Chocolate....vanilla almond milk......agave nectar...... And..... Avocado! It's sounds weird but came out amazing!
Recipe here- http://vimeo.com/46236009

My final adventure in cooking was the evil land of vegan/gluten free baking. Those words together are a trifecta of terror! I am just starting to try and learn how to bake vegan and gluten free. Today's attempt was a disaster! The bread did not rise the way it should and was DENSE! It looked amazing but when I cut into it it was so soft in the inside! I managed to eat the ends but threw away the rest. I will try again later this week.

That is all I can handle for the evening so it's time to finally sit down and relax!

Soap, falafel and homework

Today was a busy day in the house of ADHD!  Started the day with vegan banana, blueberry pancakes. Then had to finish the morning with homework but I finished quickly.  Wrote three pages for my Action Research paper.  Elizabeth and I walked to J&B and read a little as well.

And now for the interesting part of the day.

The soap hardened and is coming along nicely.  It smells very earthy and green!
It will take one month to cure and I hope to sell some as well.  My goal with soap making is to sell enough to pay for the hobby!  I love to make things but there is no way to use all the soap myself so I want to sell it for around 4$ a bar and that will cover all my costs so that I can keep experimenting with the hobby.

After finishing the soap I decided to try my hand at making falafel.  I made a pistachio falafel with tomato salsa and tahini sauce.  Thank you Sprouted Kitchen for the recipe.

Here is the recipe if you are interested.

Wrapped it with a collared green leaf instead of pita!

making soap!

After reading the most boring book for class I decided I would make another batch of soap.  Did some research and decided to try to use cucumber juice instead of water in my recipe.  It is curing now and will take about 1 month until it is ready.

24oz- canola oil
18oz- Coconut oil
4.4oz Coco butter
6oz- Caster oil
17.6oz- Olive oil
22oz- cucumber juice infused with mint
9.8oz- Lye

Simple post for the day

Drinking-fresh ginger lemon "tea"

This unfortunately is my Saturday at the moment. Homework for grad school has really taken over my life. Before grad school I would be brewing or making something today. I hope to be able to cook tomorrow. I am coming off a 5 day juice reboot today so I am really excited to be cooking and eating again!
